Telecentre-Europe’s Summit 2012

Under the title Jobs for Youth and Ageing Online, network leaders representing more then 25.000 telecentres gathered at Mercure Grand Hotel in Warsaw for the fifth Telecentre-Europe Summit that took place during 17-18 October 2012 and was co-hosted by the Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI).

The Summit was opened by a video message from Commissioner László Andor, responsible for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

The event included plenary & parallel sessions on four main topics:

• Skills &  Jobs for youth
• Capacity building for telecentres & libraries
• Socio-economic impact of telecentres
• Ageing Online

Telecentre-Europe Summit 2011

Under the title “Telecentres: get to work” the fourth Telecentre-Europe Summit took place in Brussels, Belgium during 27-28 October 2011, and brought together telecentre network leaders and eInclusion actors from all over Europe.

This year again, the event was held under the patronage of Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for the Digital Agenda.

The event explored how telecentres can improve employment and economic growth for their communities and included three main topics:

• eSkills for future jobs
• SME’s online & social entreprises
• sustainability & impact assessment

Telecentre Europe Summit 2010

Under the title Joining up for European eInclusionthe third Telecentre-Europe Summit took place in Budapest, Hungary during 13-14 October 2010, and brought together telecentre network leaders and eInclusion actors from across Europe.

The event was held under the patronage of Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for the Digital Agenda.

Telecentre Europe Summit 2009

The Telecentre-Europe Summit 2009 took place on 14-15 October in Istanbul, Turkey.

It brought together 90 telecentre network leaders from across the world. The event was managed by the Telecentre-Europe’s Steering Committee and Youth for Habitat, and was sponsored by Microsoft. The summit took forward the success of the Telecentre Leaders Forum, held in Riga in April 2008.

Telecentre Europe Summit 2008

On April 8-9, 2008, more than 60 telecentre practitioners from 43 organisations, representing 23 countries across Europe, met for the European Telecentre Leaders Forum (TLF-E) in Riga, Latvia.

The most urgent need was to create and build a community of people, who believe in the power of ICTs as tools for development and appreciate the value of knowledge sharing.
