Succesful partners meeting of the “Use IT & Enjoy” project in Copenhagen

Lithuania-UseIT&Enjoy_meeting2_01HThe international “Use IT and Enjoy” project implementers from Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania have met for the second time. The meeting was held last month in Copenhagen and hosted by TE’s Danish member Aeldremobiliseringen (the Association of Danish Senior Citizens).

The project partners met to evaluate and discuss the first results of the project analysis on ICT services availability, usage and needs in the partner countries. They also planned the upcoming activities and they topics to be analyzed and compared.Lithuania-UseIT&Enjoy_meeting2_02H

During the meeting, all project members gained deeper understanding of the project partner’s organization Aeldremobiliseringen and the context it operates in. In addition, the project assumed an acceleration and is stepping forward with the next project tasks.

Safer Internet Day in Lithuania

Lithuania-SID2013_01H On February 5th and together with 100 countries all over Europe & the world, Lithuania has been commemorating the International Safer Internet Day 2013 (SID 2013). This tenth edition of the initiative was loud, well-seen and very successful countrywide.

Thanks to the collaboration of social partners, lots of events & initiatives were held, mostly located in the biggest cities of Lithuania but broadcasted throughout the rest of the country.

TE’s member organization Langas į ateitį organized the online lecture “How to ensure safer online and mobile phones communication of our kids” and invited parents & carers to the local libraries to watch the webinar. More than 6500 adults participated, visiting 500 libraries and their branches all over the country.

During SID 2013, Langas į ateitį also launched the new educational test for youngsters Are you safe on the internet?  Over 1000 young participants tested their knowledge and received valuable advices.

1000 young participants at “IT for Your Tomorrow” events in Lithuania

Lithuania-ITforYourTomorrow_01HDuring 2012, the  “IT for Your Tomorrow”  events attracted over 1000 young participants between 16-24 in 5 different places of Lithuania. The project was funded by Microsoft’s “ICT skills for youth career opportunities” program and implemented by TE member Langas į ateitį (LIA).

The idea of the informational & educational events “IT for Your Tomorrow” was to demonstrate young citizens (16+) the importance and variety of ICT when choosing a job, inform them on internet safety, how to watch over their image on internet, and a lot more.Lithuania-ITforYourTomorrow_03H

The youngsters were invited to participate in 12 different lectures about career planning, online reputation, professions around ICT and about the most desirable professions in the EU. Alongside the lectures they could visit a market place where they could receive advise about useful e-products and e-services, test their safe internet skills or discover tools to improve their knowledge.

Educational events in Lithuania prepare youth for the labour market

In the frame of a new project called “ICT skills for youth career opportunities”, funded by Microsoft, Langas į ateitį (LIA) is organizing a series of events for young Lithuanians between 16-24

The purpose is to  encourage young people to gather more information about the needs at the Lithuanian labour market, to better understand the importance of e-skills in the always increasing demand in personal competences, and to get them acquainted with e-services and e-tools for improving  their employability skills.

New website to encourage more e-services users in Lithuania

In its continuous efforts to offer up-to-date ICT training, „Langas į ateitį“  launched the new website www.epilietis.eu, designed in Lithuania. The website was developed to teach the use of public & private e-services that are free of charge.

The website content at www.epilietis.eu consists of descriptions of public & private e-services, learning material, useful links & tips, as well as self-assessment tests. Moreover, five up-to-date e-courses (Safety online, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Communication Online & Basics to Start a Business in LT) are available online.

Kick-off meeting of new international “Use IT and enjoy” project

The recently started international project Use IT and Enjoy implemented by Swedish, Danish and Lithuanian partners held a kick-off meeting in Vilnius at the very beginning of September.

The project team consisted of representatives from Telecentre-Europe member organizations Aeldremobiliseringen (DK) and Langas į ateitį (LT), and of the Swedish National Pensioners’ Organisation (Pensionärernas riksorganisation, PRO). The meeting was a great opportunity to get to know each other, to review project aims & objectives as well as to discuss the next project activities.

“Use IT and enjoy” focuses on motivational methodologies of ICT usage for elderly

Together with partners from Sweden & Denmark, Telecentre-Europe’s member Langas į ateitį is participating in the project “Use IT and enjoy” that will focus on engagement and motivational methodologies of ICT usage by elderly.

A package of best practice examples will be prepared and the collected knowledge will help to address the barriers to digital inclusion currently faced by older citizens across the partner countries and across Europe. The project is partially funded by the NordPlus Adult programme and will start at 1 August, 2012 and last for 22 months.
