How to disseminate the MIREIA survey? Best practices from Romania!

MIREIA_EOS_RomaniaHIn about 1 week time EOS Foundation managed to reach 1500 Romanian eInclusion actors and over 150 organizations have already filled the MIREIA survey. This was made possible through the use of mailing lists and an already established partners network.

According to the population figure for Romania, the MIREIA mapping exercise had established a minimum target of having 102 eInclusion actors to fill the survey. In no time, and with the help of national partners, the Romanian MIREIA branch EOS Foundation managed to supersede the minimum target with almost 50%!

New opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities in Romania

EOS Foundation Romania and “Pentru Voi” Foundation developed a partnership to support the inclusion and welfare of people with intellectual disabilities. The partnership started with a pilot project for nine beneficiaries, and was aimed at increasing the quality of their life.

During the pilot project, the trainees had the opportunity to learn the basics of computer use, during a total of 24 hours spread over a period of three weeks. As the pilot project gave good results among its beneficiaries, the partnership goes on and other groups of adults with intellectual disabilities will now be trained in ICT.

Sustainable telecentres through exchange experiences

More than 50 telecentre coordinators from Romania, Serbia, Latvia and Moldova participated in a range of 4 workshops that were implemented in the countries of the partners involved in the project. They had the opportunity to exchange experiences and to learn more about how telecentres can be sustainable in time.

The exchange visits were part of the project Shared Learning and Community Digital Inclusion through telecentre services, a partnership between EOS Foundation Romania, the Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association (LIKTA), the Serbian International Aid Network (IAN) and the Moldovan Alliance of Access to Information and Training Community (AITCC). Participants discovered about the activities & services that other telecentre networks from other countries are providing. As the background of the countries involved was very distinct, the ideas & experiences of the participants differed from one workshop to another.

Rural entrepreneurship courses in Romania

EOS Foundation Romania, in partnership with Civitas Foundation, has implemented the ICT & Rural Entrepreneurship Project to give professional orientation for people at rural areas and in small urban communities.

The project created a training package dedicated to the development of both entrepreneurial and ICT skills, to enable rural people to set up their own business in the communities where they are living. Thanks to this program, 265 people managed to develop and start small businesses in their rural communities. The entire community now benefits from that, as they contribute to the economic development of the region.

Four Telecentre-Europe member organizations share experiences during a Study Visit in Moldova

Between 17-21 September a Study Visit is taking place in Moldova in which 15 telecentre leaders from 4 Telecentre-Europe member organizations are participating.

During this visit, experts from EOS Foundation (Romania), LIKTA (Latvia), Alliance of Access to Information and Training Community Centres (Moldova) and International Aid Network (Serbia), are together to share information about community digital inclusion through telecentre services.

Best Practice Guide for telecentre coordinators

EOS Foundation Romania, in partnership with the Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association (LIKTA), the Serbian International Aid Network (IAN) and the Moldovan Alliance of Access to Information and Training Community Centers (AITCC), have developed a “Best Practice Guide” that can be useful to all telecentres in Europe.

The guide is an example of best practices and activities developed in the telecentre networks of Romania, Serbia, Latvia and Moldova and is addressed to all telecentre coordinators.

Librarians win Awards for best story & photo of Romanian Get Online Week

On July 2nd & 6th , Telecentre-Europe’s Romanian member organization EOS Foundation organized the second and third Award Ceremony for the winning telecentres of the “Hai pe net” contest, the Romanian version of TE’s Get Online Week campaign.

Among the winners of the “Hai pe net” awards, is the Medias Public Library (Sibiu County), who won the first prize in the category of “Most relevant Success Story”. During the Awarad Ceremony on July 2nd, the prize was handed over to local librarian Antonela Sofia Barbu, who managed to involve different categories of community members, including people from the local Recovery and Neuropsychiatric Rehabilitation Center Medias. One of the participants is also the main character of the winning success story.

The last Award Ceremony took place on July 6th at Milosesti Public Library, a small rural area in LaLomita County. The first prize at the category of “Most suggestive photo” was handed over to local librarian Maria Stefanfor, for the photo that captured the first click of a lady of 89 years old.
